Lessons for Children & Adults
Dressage is the French word meaning "to train" and over the years I've experienced first hand how Dressage principles help horses & riders in all disciplines. But at Golden Horse Dressage it goes much deeper than just "training" techniques.
Together, we will prioritize cultivating a true heart connection between you & your horse.
A relationship that deepens as you gain trust & confidence in each other, in & out of the saddle.
I believe the joy we seek and find with horses blossoms when we truly listen to and honor each other's nervous systems. Our ability to feel safe in each others presence is the foundation of the connection we desire and a cornerstone for everything else we hope to achieve together.
Horses and humans alike are individuals and together we will honor the unique strengths you both bring to the relationship while helping to develop the areas that needs more support.
In our lessons together I'll also teach you how to tune in to and understand what your horse is trying to tell you, as well as how to communicate your thoughts and ideas to your horse, not only through your physical position and cues, but also through your mind and soul connection.
I have an expert eye and ability to develop and improve your position in the saddle as well as teach you the effects of your aids and identify how your body language is affecting your horse.

Meet Jordan Banks
Hi! I'm Jordan and I've loved horses for as long as I can remember. My mom strapped me onto a pony at the county fair when I was just one-year-old and that was that, I was hooked! I didn't stop asking for a horse or pony until I got one! Many more followed and here I am now, still completely IN LOVE with horses...I am that "Horse Girl" the kids in school didn't understand and made fun of, but I would never trade my beautiful life with horses!
I have been working with horses professionally for 30 years and regardless of which discipline I'm involved in at any given time, my connection to horses is why I do this and why I'm still here.
I am an artist and as such I have discovered that when I'm teaching, I love to tune into the horses energy and help you sculpt it, much like an artist creating a vase on a potter's wheel.
In order to shape a vase the potter's wheel has to be spinning; in the same way there has to be forward movement in order for you to shape and sculpt the horses energy.
If a potter gets too strong with his hands or his tools, the entire vase can fly right off the wheel and be destroyed. The same is true for our horses.
The amount of "pressure" to use is a tactful and delicate art form. If we use too much, we risk destroying the horse and his spirit as well. If we use too little, the art we envision never emerges.
My gift is in helping you develop your artistic "tact" and "feel" while guiding you to find and own "your center" both physically and energetically, so that you can then help your horse develop his ability to find & own his center as well.
From a place of balance, we are free to allow movement to become artistic expression.

Dressage & Working Equitation
A trip to Portugal in the late 90's and riding a Golden Palomino Lusitano stallion changed the trajectory of my life forever.
I had never considered becoming a horse trainer, but that experience and the encouraging words of a stranger I'd just met and was rooming with opened a portal into the world I find myself in today, now with two Lusitano horses of my own.
I returned to the states and dove into Dressage intensively, eventually becoming a Working Student for three and a half years.
As an up and coming dressage rider in my 20's, I earned my USDF Bronze Medal and later my USDF "L" Learners Judge credential. I competed through Prix St George, but an injury sidelined my gelding Ugo before completing our Silver Medal.
Introduced to Working Equitation in 2014 when it was still new to the states as a sport, I was selected to take part in the very first Working Equitation "Trainers Intensive" with Nuno Matos in 2015 and later competed at the Andalusian World Cup in Las Vegas that same year.
I have trained with many noteworthy names in both the classical and competitive Dressage worlds as well as in Working Equitation,
In my youth I rode Bareback, Stock Seat & Saddle Seat Equitation, trained horses to Drive, played polo and took jumping lessons. I also barrel raced my mare Xena for three years ~ what a side quest!
I now eagerly welcome riders of every discipline to the world of Dressage and Working Equitation!
Why Work With Me...
As I learn more and more about Animal Communication and experience it first hand, I've come to realize beyond a doubt that it is in fact REAL! And now I fully and intentionally embrace incorporating Animal Communication into my work with all horses.
I think I have always innately done it myself, but perhaps just like you, for many years I didn't even realize I was doing it or know it was actually even "a thing." But I know now that Animal Communication on so many levels IS real and it has become my mission to share this news with the world!
I've started a podcast dedicated to Animal Communication, teaching my listeners about what it is and sharing real stories that illustrate how it might look and show up in our daily lives.
